Open RIF provides keyboards designed to make writing Tarifit in Latin easier across different operating systems and devices.

Keyboards
Windows
We’ve created several Windows keyboard layouts to accommodate different typing preferences and existing keyboard standards used by Riffian users.
After reviewing existing layouts and gathering feedback from the Riffian community, we provide three options:
- AZERTY : designed for users who are already familiar with the French-style keyboard layout commonly used in Morocco and other French-speaking regions.
- QWERTZ : designed for users in Germany and the DACH region, where the QWERTZ layout is commonly used.
- QWERTY : designed primarily around the standard US keyboard layout and suitable for users in countries such as Spain, the Netherlands, and elsewhere.
The Tarifit characters are integrated into each layout while keeping the familiar arrangement of the underlying Windows keyboard. Choose the version that matches the physical keyboard you use every day.
macOS
We also provide a dedicated Tarifit keyboard for macOS, designed to make typing in Tarifit simple and accessible while keeping the familiar Mac keyboard experience. The keyboard is available as an open-source project for anyone who wants to use, adapt, or contribute to it.
Linux
On Linux, the Tarifit keyboard layout is now part of xkeyboard-config, the standard collection of XKB keyboard layouts. This means the layout is available through the standard keyboard configuration system in Linux distributions that include a recent version of xkeyboard-config, without requiring a separate keyboard-layout installation.
Android and iOS
For Android and iOS, we’re planning dedicated Tarifit keyboard projects as part of our future development. We’ll be working toward bringing native Tarifit keyboard support to mobile devices and making it easier to write in Tarifit on both platforms.
